About ISMO

The International Society for Mobile Youth Work (ISMO) was founded in 1992 and became a Professional Organisation of the Social Service Agency of the Protestant Church in Germany in 1994.
The aim is to organise the discussion, the analysis and the development of the approach of Mobile Youth Work (MYW) on a global level in order to improve the living situation of children and youth at risk, effectively. The dialogue between experts on various levels (local and international NGO's, ministries and universities) helps to develop the approach of MYW and leads to a new practise of social work. Being a professional association within the Social Service Agency of the Protestant Church of Germany (Diakonisches Werk der Evangelischen Kirche in Deutschland), ISMO pursues the additional objective of supporting the nation wide networking of experts and NGO's in order to achieve synergenic effects and to promote public awareness for the rights and needs of children and youth at risk.
